Local Beef debuts at Phillips Andover

One of our nation's oldest and most prestigious prep schools has deepened their commitment to local family farmers. We have worked hard with PA to develop a list of core items on their menu that they can source from our regional farmers. Last week they featured Slow Roasted Top Round from Ioka Valley Farms in Hancock MA and with the resounding success will follow up with Burgers raised on Golden Acres in Waterloo NY. We are honored to partner with this leader in the Sustainability Movement and support their commitment to Green Initiatives.

Northeast Family Farms participates in pasture study at UMASS Amherst

This past spring Dole and Bailey acquired 6 pure-bred beef cattle from Vachel Farm, owned and operated by David and Faith Thibault, and loaned them to the UMASS Amherst Research and Education Center Farm in South Deerfield as part of a pasture study on rotational grazing systems, and grazing pressure on specific varieties, blends of grasses and legumes. The study hopes to identify varieties best suited for New England soils and conditions and provide valuable information to livestock producers. The study is being conducted by Dr. Stephen Herbert, UMASS Extension Agronomist.

Great Care=Great Beef

Northeast Family Farms works with great farmers who are dedicated to pasture raising animals. Sourcing local foods greatly reduces the impact on our global environment. In addition to this obvious benefit our farmers through love and dedication to their craft produce amazing foods!
